Otto Vowinkel Concert Model Cedar Indian Rosewood 650mm scale

Otto is one of Holland's leading luthiers with an international client list.  He builds traditional instruments which are light, easy to play and have outstanding tonal qualities.  His rosette design is based on the flag for the city of Amsterdam and the level of detail is indicative of the skill and precision of his work.  His Concert model is made by himself whilst his student models are made in Spain.

This Concert model guitar is a fine example of Otto's craftsmanship showing great skill and attention to detail.  Its Cedar top is virtually unmarked indicating that the guitar has not been played a lot.  The back and sides in Indian Rosewood are very well book-matched and the purfling is elegant but restrained, in keeping with the whole feel of the guitar.  Sloane tuners complete the package.  The sound is typical of a Cedar guitar being rounded and mellow but with very good projection.  Balance between treble and bass registers is very good.  All in all this is a fine guitar which will improve over time as it is played more.
