AAron Ruiz Garcia 630 Spruce Indian Rosewood 2008

AAron Ruiz Garcia is one of the group of luthiers who have settled in Granada and he follows in that long tradition of guitar making.  Since childhood AAron has had a fascination with stringed musical instruments and has always played, made, and collected all kinds of musical instruments.  His classical guitars follow the Granada tradition from Antonio Torres, Manuel de la Chica, Isidro Garrido, and Manuel Fernandez with the result that the guitars have good volume and a traditional sound.

This guitar is somewhat unusual with having a scale length of   630mm.  Spanish guitars generally have the standard 650mm scale lengths, and sometimes 640mm.  So it's likely that the guitar was a special commission for a client with smaller hands or stretch issues.  The guitar features a Spruce top and Indian Rosewood back and sides, with an Ebony fingerboard.  Overall its condition is very good with little evidence of playing marks and the quality of workmanship is very high as one would expect from an experienced luthier with passion for musical instruments.  The sound is typically Spanish with bright trebles and good bass response.  Sound projection is very good though the volume is probably slightly down on that from a large bodied full scale guitar as one would expect.  So the guitar has an intimate feel both in sound and the playing experience.  As expected, the shorter scale length makes the guitar particularly easy to play and would suit a player with smaller hands or seeking a quality instrument to move to from the larger standard scale instrument.
