Rik Middleton Spruce Indian Rosewood 650mm scale

Rik had a lifelong hobby as a woodworker and took up guitar making after retiring from teaching.  He was encouraged when in 1994 two of his guitars won gold and silver medals in a London competition, and took up lutherie full time from 1997.  In 2023 he retired from guitar making.

The guitar is a fine example of Rik's craftsmanship. It has a Spruce top, beautifully book-matched Indian Rosewood back and sides and an Ebony fretboard.  The exquisite rosette has echoing details on the bridge and the Cedar neck is inlaid.  Despite its age the guitar is in virtually mint unplayed condition, apart from a few very tiny marks.  The sound has all the brightness and projection that one would expect from a Spruce top guitar and the mid range and bass provide an excellent balance across the strings.  Overall this is an exceptional guitar.
