Simon Ambridge classical guitar for sale

Simon Ambridge Torres 650 Spruce Indian Rosewood

Simon Ambridge Torres 650 Spruce Indian Rosewood

Simon made his first guitar in 1978 which signalled the start of his career, but it was around 1988 before he could devote his energy full time into his passion.  Since then he has established an international reputation, selling his guitars to clients around the world and receiving such endorsements as 'A connoisseur's guitar maker.  The fact that his guitars seldom appear on the market, and when they do they command premium prices is testimony to the build and sound quality of his instruments

The guitar is one inspired by the smaller bodied Torres design.  it features a superb bear-claw figured Spruce top and Indian Rosewood back and sides.  The rosette and purfling are deliberately understated but add just enough to the elegance of the design.   Whilst the guitar is from the earlier part of Simon's career, the craftsmanship and sound quality are top class.  Even though the body is small it has very good projection.  The air resonance is G as would be expected from the smaller body.  Nut width and scale length are standard as 52mm and 650mm respectively.  The guitar is in very good condition, having had only one owner from new.  A couple of string whips and a small ding in the rosette are the only significant blemishes on an otherwise superb guitar.  The sound is typically Ambridge with a very clear treble response right up the fretboard and rounded basses.  This guitar was in my personal collection but is now being offered for sale as I am changing to a shorter scale instrument.
