Pete Beer Classical Guitar
Pete Beer Malaysian Blackwood, Spruce, 650mm Scale
Pete Beer is one of the younger generation of luthiers who is pioneering the use of sustainable woods in the construction of his high quality concert guitars.
This guitar is No 25, signed on the underside of the soundboard and was made in 2010. It has Malaysian Blackwood book-matched back and sides, doubled for stiffness and improved projection, Spruce top, and Cedar neck with a V-jointed Maple headstock. Note that for back and sides in Blackwood many luthiers charge around £1,000 more than for Indian Rosewood. The fingerboard is Ebony and the bridge Rosewood. Maple bindings are on the front and back to match the headstock, and the tuning machines are high quality.
The scale length and nut width are standard at 650mm and 52mm respectively. The bracing is Pete's variation on the Torres design, as can be seen through the sound-port when the plug is removed.
Whilst there are a few nail marks, having been played by myself and the previous owner, these are superficial and don't affect the sound. Overall the guitar is in very good condition, with a sound which one would expect of a professional level concert guitar.
