Stephen Eden Hauser classical guitar for sale
Stephen Eden Hauser II Bench Copy Cedar Indian Rosewood 645mm scale
Stephen is one of the younger generation of UK luthiers who are forging international reputations for the quality of their workmanship and the tone and balance of their instruments. Stephen makes a number of classical models - his entry level Cadenza, a Concert model, a Grand Concert model and at the top of his range Hauser II 1959 and Friederich 1980 Bench copies. His European outlet is Siccas Guitars.
The guitar offered for sale is Stephen's Hauser II Bench copy in virtually mint condition. It features a specially selected AAA Spruce top, along with Indian Rosewood back and sides. Air resonance is around F#. The scale length is slightly less than the standard 650 and the nut width a shade narrower at 51mm, making the guitar feel easy to play. The guitar finish is French Polish.
I can do no better than quote Stephen's description of his Hauser copies
'The design of the guitar allows for a much thicker top in comparison to many of the Spanish made guitars; yet which still produces a deep bass. What enables this is the result of the unique and skilled construction methods. Observations have been that one of the advantages of a thick top is that the trebles can be stronger and more colourful. The opening up period of this special model can take longer than usual. For both luthier and guitarist this is an exciting journey. It just keeps getting better! The meticulous replications have feel and sound truly reflecting the original; providing the player with the expected Hauser depth of bass with a very clear, flexible, sweet treble. This guitar is capable of a wide ranging tonal palette; making it a highly desirable instrument well suited to a player with a wide ranging repertoire'.
