John Price 640 Spruce Ziricote

I can do no better than to quote John's own words from an interview regarding his background.

In 1992, my father offered me a book how to build his own Stanley Doubtfire’s classic guitar. it was an illumination and decided to build my first guitar. Young father with 2 young children, I spent my weekend to inspire me great masters Jose Romanillos, Ignacio Fleta and Robert Bouchet.  Encouraged by Tommy Emmanuel met during a concert, I continued and discovered in 1995 the latest technical innovations of the Australian guitar school using a lattice dam and modern materials thanks to Eugene Philip.

From an empirical point of view, I developed my own guitars and in 1996, thanks to the support of Tony Acosta of Luthier Music in New York, my guitars began to be played by many concert players.  I have always had new ideas and I test them carefully so as not to lose the essence of my lattice guitars.

The guitar is in mint condition and is an outstanding example of John's craftsmanship.  It features a Spruce top, which following the Australian tradition is lattice braced.  The beautifully book matched and figured sides and arched back are doubled to as to increase the volume and projection of this fine guitar.  it also features a 640mm scale and a 50mm nut which make it very comfortable to play, especially for the player with slightly smaller hands.  String heights at the 12th fret are standard being 4mm and 3.5mm for the low and high E strings respectively.  John uses a two piece saddle which allows more precise intonation.  This guitar has all the power, balance and projection which one would expect of a concert level instrument.
