Ramirez 1A Cedar Indian Rosewood 638mm Scale

The name of Ramirez will need no introduction to lovers of the classical guitar.  The workshop has been dominant in Spanish lutherie now for many decades since its inception in 1882.  The 1A model is their flagship model, with many professional players around the world owning and playing one.  As a concession to players with smaller hands the 1A has now options of scale lengths of 650mm and 638mm, with each retaining the characteristic Ramirez Spanish sound.

The guitar features a Cedar top and beautifully book-matched Indian Rosewood back and sides and was built in 2009.  The design is that of the Tradicional 1A but with a smaller scale length at 638mm and a narrower nut 0f 50mm compared with the standard 52mm or 53mm as is found no the longest models of the 1A.  It has the Amalia Ramirez signature on the label.  The neck has the traditional ebony reinforcing strip and the action is standard classical.  The combination of scale length and nut size produce a guitar which is exceptionally easy to play .  As might be expected, the sound is typical of Ramirez with the Spanish sound of strong basses and bright trebles.  Structurally the guitar is in virtually mint condition.  This is an opportunity to pick up a very fine example of the short scale model from Ramirez workshop at a very attractive price, as these rarely appear on the market.
